Clinical Supervision
Therapy and supervision can present many options and paths we could take. There is not always a clear or correct path, and supervision offers that space to explore what each of these means, not only for our clients but also for our own development.
The aims of supervision are to address the supervisee's professional development, offer a space of support and widening perspectives, and to ensure the supervisee is complying with professional and ethical standards.
Whilst a variety of methods may be used within supervision sessions, the primary focus will be the welfare of the clients within the supervisee's clinical practice.
The content of supervision may include; discussion of any therapeutic relationship & engagement issues, therapeutic strategies & case presentations, identification of supervisee thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, and an exploration of their impact, and risk, safety, and ethical issues in compliance with the governing body framework.
Supervisee Responsibilities - is responsible for preparing for each supervision session to ensure they get the most out of each session. The supervisee is responsible for ensuring the supervisor is aware of each client on their caseload. If you don't bring up a client, the supervisor cannot hold clinical responsibility.
