Children

Have a child who is struggling in school, or behaviour you feel you or others do not understand, or you feel lost with how to help them?

This is something I can help with. Whether its support at home to help you with your child, or at school, then I can help you through this journey.

Maybe your child may have their own difficulties that they would like to talk to someone independent about and would like a safe confidential space to talk through their thoughts.

Whether its individual support for a child, or support & advice to help your child settle in school and/or home then we can explore this .

How I work…

The underpinning of this work is to take a systemic therapy approach. The aim of my systemic therapy is to identify all an individuals needs; and develop, implement, and establish a workable plan, whilst identifying and overcoming any barriers to success.

Working systemically means to look at all an individual, child's and/or young person's needs from the perspective of their academic ability in education, through to their social, cognitive and communication needs and development.

I was a consultant for the Special Education Needs & Disability (SEND) service and have experience in working with children, to feel settled in school and home.

The voice of any individual, child and/or young person is paramount. Without this we cannot move forward, whether a person communicates verbally or not, I will work with them and their families and schools to find a way of capturing what it is they feel they need and want to say. Along with the strengths, the voice of any person is the start of a workable plan and the positive journey moving forward.

I can work with the school to support them to identify and put in place the right strategies, interventions, and reasonable adjustments to help your child feel safe and engaged at school.

I take a positive and strength-based approach, which ensures that I capture what is already working well, or what has previously worked, and the key skills and strengths a child and/or young person has; as well as the systems that operate around that individual. It is important to take this approach as this fundamentally forms part of the foundations of any plans, interventions and strategies moving forward.

In order to regulate my role for quality assurance I follow the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the BACP ethical guidelines at all times. In addition to this I have a Diploma in Care which underpins my knowledge in child development.
